The BIF is well equipped to handle most biological imaging needs (and some material type samples as well). The facility is equipped with 4 electron microscopes (2 TEMs and 2 SEMs), 2 laser scanning confocal microscopes (one of which is also a multi-photon) and 2 spinning disk confocal microscopes (one of which is also a TIRF capable instrument).
Our EM sample preparation equipment ranges from laboratory microwave processing through to highly advanced cryoEM processing with everything in between.
For light microscopy we have a complete tissue culture facility to grow cells for live cell imaging. The BIF is also equipped with a vibratome for thick sectioning of your fresh or fixed materials for light microscopy.
